The population of Syria is only about 20 million. So 5 percent of all Syrians are now refugees. Five percent of the US population would be 15 million people.

This should be interesting. Assad's days, or months, are clearly numbered. I assume the Arab League members are moving not so much to speed that end, as to try to control who wins and replaces Assad.

Here is another story (above) from the Iranian press conveying the same theme as yesterday's report about promisingly the 5+1 talks are going. But then we have the ABC report (below) that beats the war drums.

What's really happening? My guess? Nothing. No real progress and perhaps Obama is beginning to figure out that he is being played. Perhaps. And if that's true, what will he do about it?

Now the Lebanese are saying that Al Qaeda is moving into Lebanon, from Syria.

Yea, this "Arab Spring" thing is just working out so wonderfully!

Revolution is a process, not an event. Democrats and secularists ARE NOT dominating that process, anywhere.

Qaeda in Iraq Kills 48 Syrian troops--in Iraq!

Yesterday I posted about Iraqi troops moving into Syria to help the Assad regime, and to cover the movement of Iranian aid into eastern Syria. This report states that Syrian troops are also moving into Iraq. Apparently an Al Qaeda outfit then attacked the contingent of Syrians in Iraq and killed forty-eight of the soldiers.

Apparently, the mess in Syria is spreading into western Iraq, which is hardly a promising sign for stability in either country. And, of course, behind it all are the Iranians.

Iraqi Troops in Syria

So says this report form Al Arabiya. The Iraqi government is helping the Iranians transfer assistance to Syrian government forces operating in eastern Syria. The Iraqis moved into Syria proper to try to drive out some rebel forces that were blocking these support routes.

So much for our Iraqi "allies."

Egyptian Opposition Won't Meet with Kerry!!!

What does it say about your policy when the very people we claim we want to help in Egypt won't even meet with our Secretary of State because they think that the Obama administration is in the tank for the Muslim Brotherhood?

I guess they just cannot understand "smart diplomacy" when they see it.
